15 of the Most Popular Architectural Styles in History

house styles

Whether you’re looking for a cozy bungalow or a larger, more spacious home, you’ll find options with the Craftsman style. The beloved craftsman style house became increasingly popular in the 1900s by architect and furniture designer Gustav Stickley, and has remained popular throughout the 21st century. This staple for American Architecture adds charm to any neighborhood with its exterior features, including shingles, low-pitched roofs, and covered front porches. Craftsman houses also feature recognizable interior details such as thick trim, prominent ceiling beams, and built-in shelving and seating. The mid-19th century Italianate style remains enduring for house styles today. It was popularized in the US as people looked backwards to a romanticized version of the past to re-create something similar in the present.

Colonial

He built his confectionary palace Strawberry Hill House between 1749 and 1776, making adjustments throughout that period. It started out as a collection of cottages and ended up a fanciful Gothic castle worthy of Beauty and the Beast. The Brutalist style is better known for civic or cultural buildings rather than homes, but the visual vocabulary remains the same—raw industrial materials, a lack of ornamentation, and an overall imposing presence. The style took its name from a 1932 exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art that showed the groundbreaking work of European Bauhaus architects like Walter Gropius and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Before World War II, it was most popular in California (where this house by Richard Neutra is located) and affluent Northeast suburbs (such as New Canaan, Connecticut, where Philip Johnson’s Glass House is).

A modern organic style house in Idaho boasts stunning rustic details

The kitchen of this 1900 Victorian in Portland, OR, had five doors taking up potential storage and workspace and a brick fireplace with a badly damaged chimney. To make matters worse, a 1990s renovation added an oddly angled island and a peninsula that blocked traffic. When buying a home, many factors will help you determine what works best for you.

Ranch

They are best when you are having a vacation and want to have a place near water or even in highland areas. Adobe is also known as mud brick, which is a building material made from organic materials like mud and is among the earliest building materials used around the world. Most of the adobe structures resemble to cob and rammed-earth buildings. The Tudor Revival reached peak popularity in the 1920s and is still widely popular today. Ranch homes are the most popular homes in 34 US states — particularly in the Midwest and on the East Coast. Architects in California began to explore the Pueblo style in the late 19th century and the Pueblo Revival style spread across New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado.

These are the Most Popular House Styles in America Right Now

house styles

One of the most famous shingle style homes in America is the Kragsyde, built in 1882 and situated near Manchester-By-the-Sea, Massachusetts. Many of the homes of this design can be found in places like Martha’s Vineyard, East Hampton, Nantucket, Rhode Island, Cannon Beach and parts of New Jersey. The year 1880 came and gave rise to bungalows in America, which populated the land specifically in New England. Moreover, the great break for this architectural style was in Southern California, which made it the most renowned in the American house style’s history. Second Empire homes are also easy to identify since they’re the only Victorian-era style that often features a symmetrical, rectangular floor plan. Gothic Revival architecture grew in the mid-19th century and was one of the early styles of Victorian-era homes.

The design is rooted in British architecture, but there are other spins on this style, including Dutch Colonial, Spanish Colonial, and French Colonial, French Country. While a regular cottage is a small home, English cottages have a distinct architectural style. English cottages originated in the 1700s during the Picturesque movement.

The roof of the house is typically a steeply pitched one that runs along the house’s length and sometimes decorated with gables and dormers. It also include other exterior features like horizontal siding and shutters. The rectangular shape and interest in symmetry are seen in other Colonial house styles, too.

All You Need to Know About Brick Homes

A modern version of this style, called Spanish Colonial Revival, includes arched windows, stucco exteriors, and second floors with cantilevered balconies. The English cottage in America is a structure identifiable mostly by nostalgia, perhaps for a time that never really existed. This kind of home is identifiable by its scale, usually on the small size, and its nonsensical, rambling floor plan. This style has two floors at most, with a thick thatched roof, small windows, and wide wood plank floors.

Art Deco

Mid-century modern homes get their name from the design style that boomed from 1945 to 1969. These homes feature large windows, flat roofs, and open-concept interiors. They have a very wide, low footprint and emphasize a connection to nature. They were also designed with family time and entertainment in mind and sometimes feature charming fixtures like conversation pits (below-floor-level built-in seating areas), built-in bars, and large fireplaces. Many modern interiors also feature minimal molding and trim, neutral color palettes, and metal accents. Mediterranean-style homes are suitable for warmer climates, which is why this style of house became prevalent in Southern California during the 1920s and 1930s.

There’s a whole front section that is clearly defined as this meditative peaceful garden space, which is part of the entry sequence coming into the household.

In suburban locations, townhomes will share a single wall between them as well as a common roof and foundation. As the price goes up, there’s more separation between homes, abandoning shared roofing and otherwise incorporating space. With the increasing need for housing, townhomes are expected to remain popular for the foreseeable future. Between 1900 and 1930, simple single-story bungalows became prominent for the average American. The style took several different forms, including a small, conservative design intended to mimic huts in parts of India at the time.

As the real estate sector evolves, we wonder what new styles and types of homes may emerge across all over the world. You have the option of selecting the house style that best suits your lifestyle, location as well as your personal taste. Split-level homes evolved from ranch-style homes and gained popularity in the 1950s and 1960s. The separation of the living spaces is what distinguishes a split-level home. Split-level homes, not just one level have various floors linked by short flights of steps.

35 Best Acrylic Nails Ideas To Inspire Your Next Manicure 2024 Metropolitan Girl

Natural color edged in taupe and the beautiful placement of sparkling stones are framed with intense gold glitter for an incredibly gilded ‘Golden’ look. The combination of neutral nails with a shiny appearance works with the detailed pinstriped corset painted on the matte ring finger nail. The depth of this inky indigo base is absolutely dreamy. Unlike the aforementioned zodiac nails, the chunky glitter creates a starry-night-sky design without the esoteric undertones. These high-shine, almond-shaped acrylics are so glossy you can see your own reflection. Unfortunately, classic neutral polishes can chip so easily that the coveted natural effect rarely lasts.

Best Creative Designs on Nails for 2024

Every nail is done differently showing the versatility of imagination with nail art. One of the very popular acrylic nail designs is to mimic the multifaceted quality of a gem in the nail design. It’s always stunning, and placed on the ring finger here between two solid color-painted nails really puts the design on display. Along the same lines, acrylic nail ideas on larger styles like coffin or rectangle have enough space to even draw figures.

Squared oval or ‘squoval’ tipped acrylics with an interesting take on the traditional manicure are interesting and different in a very good way. Add a metallic gold statement for a show-stopping combo.

This design could be recreated with any colour palette you like, but we are loving these blues. A half-and-half design with vertical stripes or block colour is a seriously chic look. Royal blue is synonymous with everything regal, but you can make the shade fun with some cool nail art like these croc French tips. Red nails never go out of style but, if you want to mix it up a bit, add some simple nail art like the hearts on this glazed set. Starting it off plain and simple, these matte nude nails are the perfect nod to the clean girl aesthetic trend. Whether you’re a seasoned nail aficionado or someone looking for some inspiration to elevate your mani, join us on a journey through the mesmerising world of acrylic nails. Acrylic nails don’t always have to be bold and eye-catching, they can also be soft and feminine like this pink and green manicure. Below, Kandalec shares 10 acrylic nail art ideas that will work perfectly with any outfit or mood.

Gold Current

Of course, one of the favorite things to do with acrylics is to mix a variety of nail polishes, shimmers and even additional adornments for attention-grabbing looks. It’s when dark chocolate and glitter nail polish grace a woman’s hands. Then a dark chocolate color is painted on most of the acrylic nails. The remainder of the nails feature glitter styles in silver and silver and brown. Now, length is relative so "short" may mean something different to everyone.

Claudia’s other passions include hiking, taking photos in nature, and trying out new recipes. A pretty design that includes plenty of detail is this black and white and gold hearts design. Although each nail matches each other, the patterns are different. Another nail is black with white hearts, and another pulls it all together with a shimmery gold heart on black and white stripes. Taupe, on its own, runs the risk of looking rather dull.

Keep your long acrylics style of nails simple with an attractive color that goes with everything, no matter what you wear. Here, long nails filed into a square are covered with just a shiny almond nail polish. This is a look that is perfect for casual as well as in work situations. A marble design mixed with pink and gold is evocative of ancient Greek times.

Acrylics, on the other hand, are here for the long haul. Love the look of a French manicure but crave a pop of color? You can use the same colors on each hand, or if you're feeling fancy, ask your manicurist to mix it up with different acrylic colors on each digit. Acrylic nails are the perfect canvas for tons of embellishments.

Because the color scheme is neutral, it’s good for day or evening. Marble effect nails can be customized to suit your style and preferences, making them versatile and trendy for any occasion. Whether you favor a subtle marble effect or a more striking design, marble-inspired acrylic nails are bound to make an impression. Simple acrylic nails were generally cheaper at cost in nail designs category. French and rounded nails were mostly used in simple acrylic nails. Pink, peach, aqua green, aqua blue and red were the most common colours which were used in acrylic nail designs.

Although it seems like there are countless options for you and your acrylics, fret not! Here’s a list of acrylic nail designs to find inspiration from for your next trip to your nail tech! Give your acrylic nail design a little sensory play with this neon-colored textured nail design. "Nail art doesn't have to be literal," says the manicurist. "Taking inspiration from the movement or mood of a print can be more on-trend to keep the design working through all four seasons."

These almond-shaped rose quartz nails will give you all the good vibes. Mixing colors and glitter is done right when the color scheme is well planned. Shades of mauve with silver glitter is a good combination. Silver glitter is added to some nails; the lightest mauve blended into a deeper mauve is added to some others, and then the same deeper mauve is added to the rest.

It’s enhanced by a dual marble design that heightens the elegance of this look.

The 9th House of Philosophy in Your Birth Chart

9th house

The ninth house is also ruled by Sagittarius and the planet Jupiter. Both Jupiter and Sagittarius encompass a certain joy and optimism and a yearning to grow and push beyond borders (both literally and mentally). Or, in the case of Kylie Jenner, Mars is in Libra, the sign that rules fashion and beauty, the industry that made her a billionaire through her entrepreneurial efforts.

This is What Mars in Aries Means for Your Zodiac Sign’s Sex Life

The globally expansive 9th house rules travel, higher education and cross-cultural connections. In this email update, you’ll learn about a town hall meeting this evening in Medical Lake and a federal judge’s decision to redraw legislative district maps that become effective after the November election. I will also share our 9th Session Review Report which has been recently mailed out, and you can read a copy of that here, and the election-year freeze which limits my ability to proactively communicate with you. Design delivers an experience and we design hospitality spaces that provide guests a place to rest, relax and enjoy their stay for staycations, vacations and workcations.

INTJ Relationships (With Each Myers Briggs Type)

You can be a passionate speaker, and you influence minds by critiquing the status quo. The Ninth House in an Earth sign makes you rigid and rational. You derive philosophical meaning from productivity, work, and material comforts. Your attitude toward morals stems from your relationships with others. You think of right and wrong in terms of your desire to nurture and heal people you care about. When the Ninth House is in Gemini, you form beliefs based on trivia, media, and cultural influences.

The Ninth House: The House of Philosophy

9th house

While it’s quite possible that you’ll actually visit distant lands in order to learn about their customs and culture, in today’s world you don’t have to do that. The internet has made the world very small and it’s convenient to communicate with and learn about people from all over the world through online activities and shared media. We learn about the rest of the world by how we communicate with it and how it communicates with us. The education that we get from those exchanges has the potential to be more influential than any formal learning.

The Ninth House: The House of Spirituality - the 12 Houses of Astrology

Their spirituality develops through connecting with like-minded people that spark their curiosity. The native will enjoy connecting with others since it is a gateway to understanding more about other people and different cultures. The idea of meeting others motivates them to seek careers and degrees in philosophy, history, or the law. For example, if Mercury transits the 9th house, your mind is generally more open to learning new concepts or different languages. When Venus is transiting here, on the other hand, you might be attracted to anything that seems foreign, whether that’s an exotic lover or an exciting new destination.

Even your dreams are represented here, for that’s your unconscious mind communicating with you while you’re asleep. In a fire sign, the Ninth House makes you protective of your ideals. You can get into heated arguments and strive to prove yourself by adopting extreme philosophical standpoints. When the Ninth House is in Libra, your college interests relate to the arts, justice, and advocacy work. Your focus in higher education veers toward science, technology, and humanitarian topics when this house is in Aquarius. Your college studies involve innovation, and you may take an unconventional path to completing your studies.

Hospitality Design, Made Accessible.

9th house

Of the various people in your life, grandchildren are found in the ninth house. As students, and eventually, as teachers, they will present themselves as wise men and women, comfortable as a bridge between spirit and reality. Positively, these individuals can be the most valuable representatives of a belief system and bring the spiritual into the physical world. Negatively, they can fail to live practically and encourage others to disconnect from reality. As students, and eventually, as teachers, they will push themselves and their students to be the best they can be.

They help us synthesize reliable data with novel concepts—in this case through exploring world philosophies and studying global techniques. Laughter is the best medicine and the 9th house delivers mega doses. We are an experience and hospitality design studio providing hospitality design and branding services to the hospitality industry. We are on a mission to democratize hospitality design and make it accessible and affordable for all hoteliers by innovating on the design process and deliver hospitality design faster, better and more affordably. Astroligion is a site about astrology, psychology, and various studies of personality types.

If you use the Placidus method (which we prefer and recommend), you may notice that the houses of your chart are different sizes. The further from the equator you were born, the more unequal your houses will be in size. Look to the 9th house for reasons why you might be more fortunate in certain areas of life.

The ninth house governs higher education in the natal chart. Pursuing an education is a great way to broaden you perspective, plus it adds a solid base to your whole life. With Neptune in the ninth house, Pennington tells mbg you may be inclined to more "out there" systems of belief, leaning into new age spirituality, mysticism, and even psychedelics. These things will heavily influence your perspective and code of ethics, as contrary to the status quo as they might be. You may also have a particular proclivity for ocean travel and being on the open sea. According to astrologer Molly Pennington, Ph.D., the ninth house is also sometimes called the "House of God" in traditional, Hellenistic astrology, because of its relation to beliefs, faith, and philosophy.

The ninth house of a natal chart is ruled by the zodiac sign Sagittarius and the planet Jupiter. As it is situated close to the peak of the sky during one's introduction to the world, it is an open entryway towards the heavens. It is described as the house of philosophy and greater wisdom. Because of Jupiter's expansive capacities, the house oversees most things that are related with growth, regardless of whether it is education, travel or the communicating thoughts. All philosophical research and understanding fall under the rulership of this ninth house. It doesn’t matter if one is receiving education through a school or if  one is simply expanding their mind alone, all learning and the knowledge that comes with it are matters of the ninth house.

While the third house is in charge of solid data and its processing, the ninth house leads loftier mindsets. Here lives the comprehensive view of our world, and our thoughts about it. You’re reaching, growing, and educating yourself beyond your childhood influences, and this is the house where you learn to know yourself. You were influenced by others and your upbringing in all of the houses in the southern hemisphere of your chart. Once you get into the 7th house, you start to come out of yourself and learn more about the wider scheme of things. The house on the cusp and the planets in the 9th house will provide great clues as to your desire to explore life and your mindset towards your intellectual process.

That’s why local governments hate Grants Pass — most don’t have enough beds, and therefore have to worry about whether they will be sued for making rules, or worse, have courts make them. Right now, under the Grants Pass ruling, if there aren’t enough shelter beds for everyone, then every unsheltered person is considered involuntarily homeless. Faced with the “involuntarily homeless” group, lower courts and municipalities tried to figure it out with lots of confusing rules. “There is nothing in Grants Pass that says governments can’t have reasonable laws,” Pastore said. If you read any news, or even secretly get your worldview from TikTok, you’re already sick of hearing about Grants Pass and how the outcome of this case will forever determine how we deal with homelessness.

The ninth house is refined by the cultured and tasteful influence of Venus. People with Venus in the 9th house are particularly drawn to venues in locations that are classy and urbane. Additionally, whichever zodiac sign happens to occupy this house, Venus will soften its energy and inject more charisma and elegance to how it is expressed.

Star of the Seas News: New Ship Will Have Resident Dog

star of the seas cruise ship

While the first Icon Class ship is about 100 days from entering service, Royal Caribbean is already eagerly looking towards the future with the second ship. Currently under construction in Turku, Finland, the vessel is scheduled to debut in the summer of 2025, although itineraries are not yet available. The next tables show the ship's first sailings as destinations and call ports. All are roundtrips from homeport Port Canaveral/Orlando (Florida USA). RCI ICON ships' hull blocks are prefabricated at Neptun Werft Shipyard (Rostock Germany) then loaded onto barges and shipped to Finland for drydock assembly (welded together).

Second Icon-Class Ship Will Have a Furry Family Member

The Lemon Post Bar has an impressive selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails/mocktails. While the Soft Ice Cream station is complimentary, the candy shop Sugar Beach sells gourmet ice cream and sweets. Icon's Royal Promenade has length 110 m/362 ft, and unlike RCI's previous Royal Promenade design has floor-to-ceiling windows providing unobstructed ocean views. Also, on the lower level (in the Embarkation Area starboard on Deck 5) is the "1401 Lobby Bar" (with indoor/outdoor seating, serves juice-based beverages and cocktails).

Former names: ICON2, Mayer Turku NB-1401

Bookings are expected to outpace Royal Caribbean’s phenomenal first Icon-class ship, Icon of the Seas, which broke every single-day booking record in the cruise line’s 53-year history when it first accepted bookings in October 2022. Royal Caribbean International has officially opened bookings for Star of the Seas, the groundbreaking addition to its Icon-class fleet. Set to embark on its maiden voyage in August 2025 from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, passengers can expect innovative design and exclusive amenities. Icon of the Seas will be 250,800 tons and hold up to 7,600 passengers, both of which are stats that eclipse the current largest cruise ship, Wonder of the Seas. Icon will also be about 10 feet longer than Wonder of the Seas, coming in at 1,198 feet long. As an example, in December 2021, the company registered 24 new cruise ship names.

On October 10, 2016, Meyer Turku Oy (Finland) and RCG-Royal Caribbean Group signed the MoU agreement (memorandum of understanding) and officially announced the building order for two vessels under the project name "ICON". The units are LNG-powered (by liquified natural gas), employ fuel cell technology, and are classified by DNV GL (Hovik Norway-headquartered international ship registrar and classification society). The MoU ceremony was attended by Michael Bayley (RCI's President and CEO), Jan Meyer (Meyer Turku's CEO) and Harri Kulovaara (Finnish naval architect, RCCL's Maritime and Newbulding's Executive Vice President). Called "Admiral Awesome", the professional employee hosts different family-themed events. The outdoor Basecamp Bar offers complimentary food plus premium a la carte-priced items and beverages.

These accommodations are designed as convertible, transforming the veranda into an indoor space (within the cabin/separated by accordion doors) at the push of a button. This category (as Edge Veranda Infinity) debuted on Celebrity Cruises' EDGE-class ships. The 2025-built Star of the Seas cruise ship (currently under construction) is RCI-Royal Caribbean's second ICON-Class vessel scheduled for delivery and inauguration in 2025-Q2. The sisterships are Icon of the Seas (2024 January) and TBN of the Seas (2026-Q2).

Based in the family vacation capital

The best free activities and free things to do at Perfect Day at CocoCay®, Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas. You can now book a cruise on Star of the Seas between August 2025 and April 2026. The new ship will offer seven-night cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

SWIM & TONIC

The Crew Buffet Restaurant has porthole windows and, along with the traditional cold and hot food stations, also has live cooking stations. Another novelty is The Clubhouse - forward located crew lounge with full bar service, fitted with massage chairs, ping pong and foosball tables, and billiards, as well as 4x LCD Virtual Windows providing real-time outside views. Like the OASIS and OASIS PLUS ships, the ICON ships have 8x neighborhoods (themed decks) which are named AquaDome, Central Park, Chill Island, Thrill Island, Royal Promenade, The Hideaway, Surfside, and Suite Neighborhood. Like all RCI boats, Icon also has a FlowRider (surfing simulator positioned aft-starboard on top deck), an island-themed Mini-Golf Course (Lost Dunes) and Rock-Climbing Walls (at Adrenaline Peak), Ice-Rink Arena (Absolute Zero/fleet's largest). The "Ultimate Family Townhouse" is a 3-deck/level suite designed for families. The stateroom is with private access to Surfside Neighborhood and features an indoor dry slide, media room/cinema, karaoke room, huge terrace.

PERFECT DAY ADVENTURES

Each ICON-class ship has 23 galleys/kitchens (serving 27 dining venues) and 425 chefs. Most food/beverage supplies are sourced from the homeport, the rest are locally sourced (in call ports). RCI's ICON ships have a 4-deck Crew Neighborhood (housing 2350 people) featuring redesigned (new/patented) crew cabins with an L-shaped bed layout. Crew staterooms are all with double occupancy (each accommodates max two persons) and fitted with TV, a writing table, electric sockets (with USB ports), storage spaces, privacy curtains, fixed lower and upper beds (the latter is accessed via stairs), and laminate flooring.

Typically newer ships cost more, so a cruise on Royal Caribbean Star of the Seas will likely cost more than other ships in the fleet. When Icon of the Seas debuts in January 2024, the ship will offer neighborhoods and entertainment areas that include Central Park, AquaDome, Chill Island, Surfside, Thrill Island, and the Hideaway. Guests will enjoy the ship’s seven pools and six waterslides, among other activities. Like her sister ship, Star of the Seas will feature a variety of neighborhoods, theme park and thrill ride adventures, and other spaces. While few design details of the new Icon-class ship are confirmed, the new Royal Caribbean cruise ship is anticipated to be roughly the same size as Icon of the Seas. Cruise Hive was established back in 2008 and among the earliest blogs in the industry.

However, Royal Caribbean promises the new ship will offer unique features and experiences, from thrilling adventures to serene retreats, and more than 40 dining and drinking options. Absolute Zero (decks 4-5) is an Ice-Rink Arena and RCI fleet's largest ice-skating stadium (complimentary show lounge/theater). Daily, Absolute Zero is operated with 45-min sessions (max 50 guests per session) for ice-skating, ice games, hockey, demonstrations, adult scavenger hunts. In the evenings, there is a live RCI original production show (professional ice show).

Explore all the restaurants on the Perfect Day at CocoCay island and discover all the complimentary dining venues that offers loads of food and drink favorites that will fuel you up in between adventures. So take your pick from Eastern to Western Caribbean and wander for a weeklong onboard the best family vacation in the world. When it comes to where you can sail on a cruise, there is no limit. That includes everywhere from far-flung ports in Asia to trips just a couple of hundred of miles from the United States in The Bahamas. While the U.S. is the world’s largest cruise market, cruises sail around the world from Europe to Australia to Asia. If you plan to have an itinerary outside of the Caribbean, Bahamas, or Alaska, then you’ll need to plan to sail from a foreign port.

Meanwhile, cruise lines often lower the prices on older ships. So in many cases you can get largely the same cruise itinerary for less money. Sail to the destination of your dreams from the departure port that works best for you. Similar to a traditional all inclusive vacation, food and entertainment on board is included in your cruise fare. Most cruise lines also offer a special and affordable drink package for your trip. Different from an all inclusive resort, you wake up at a new port throughout your vacation rather than the same scenery.

The Complete Guide to Visiting Cozumel on a Cruise

cruise to cozumel

Local SpotsIf you head out of the port or you aren’t fed on an excursion, there are a number of local spots where you can pop in an grab a bite to eat. Many of these restaurants near the port are waterfront, so you can sit, relax, and have a drink and meal with a fantastic view. When it’s time to head back, there are showers available to wash off the salt and sand. There is also an aquatic park for the kids (costs extra), as well as paragliding, horseback riding, ATV or jet ski rentals.

Turquoise Island Bliss

Temperatures could be a little bit higher than in previous weeks (with daytime highs of around 85ºF), and humidity levels may begin to increase ever so slightly. The winter is arguably the best time to cruise to Cozumel, and February is perhaps the best month of all with its sunny, dry days and comfortable temperatures. There’s never a bad time to cruise Cozumel in Mexico, where temperatures remain invitingly temperate year-round and hurricanes are rare. The rainy season, which runs from May to October, typically brings sharp downpours, but they are usually brief. Cancun and Cozumel's town centres remind you that these places aren't just beach hot spots – they're every bit as 'real Mexico' as cities in the country's interior.

Cozumel Weather in June: Wet, Hot Days and Warm Evenings

After seeing how the pearls are grown and harvested you can snorkel out to see the pearl hatchery. While snorkeling you can see an underwater life-size Virgen de Guadalupe statue. The joy of parasailing is in the aerial views you get to soak in. So, it’s even more enjoyable when those views are of some of the most pristine water along Mexico.

Best Deals to Cozumel, Mexico

There is a slightly higher price if you have more than 4 people and a bit more if you have 6-8 people in your group. There is a plethora of options for renting a vehicle and driving around Cozumel as well. The island is easy to navigate in a matter of a couple hours if you don’t make too many stops. Both International Pier and Puerta Maya are about 3 miles from San Miguel, but it is a safe and scenic walk to the downtown area which I have done a few times. Taxis are cheap, but if you have extra time the walk is doable.

How Much Cruise Lines Spend on Food (Less Than You Think?)

Balancing sunlit mornings and effervescent nights out is par for the course on the eastern shores of Quintana Roo. Not far from the Museo de Cozumel is the tiny but mighty Burritos Gorditos. Serving burritos, guacamole, quesadillas, and breakfast on the island, this small shop commits to a no-frills, cash only approach. Sit on one of the restaurant’s multicolored chairs while you enjoy what some call the best burritos in Cozumel.

Take a Mini-Sub Dive Tour

If you’re exploring the eastern coast of the island, be sure to schedule a stop at The Coconut Shack. This ramshackle beach bar has a handful of plastic tables out back overlooking the water, a few colorful hammocks, and next-level mojitos. One of the best family-friendly all-inclusive resorts in Cozumel, Iberostar Cozumel has a quiet stretch of beach, two large pools, a spa, and a kids' club. It's a great option for travelers who prefer to distance themselves from busy San Miguel and want front-row seats to the best diving on the island. If you’re cruising during the holidays, make sure to have something festive in your suitcase, as every cruise line will offer special celebrations, galas and dinners.

International PierRight next to the Puerta Maya Pier, but just to the north, is the International Pier. It often serves Royal Caribbean ships, including their large Oasis-class ships. Just like its sister pier, the International Pier also has a small “city” that caters to cruise passengers (but you can’t go between the two ports).

Exclusive access to The Beach Club at Bimini

Uniting the energy of Miami with nautical nods to the history of sailing, we’re infusing our own terminal with the same incredible ethos as our ships. You won't find any other experience like La Casita de Indio on Cozumel. If you're someone who loves a local connection, this is the dining experience to try. "This local spot has a family cooking for you in their own home," said Rabinor. "They even encourage you to go to the fish market and bring them the catch of the day, which they will prepare for you. They prepare a mean coconut shrimp."

The Biggest Reason Cruisers Miss Their Cruise Ship in a Foreign Port

You should expect showers or sharp downpours, but they will not be as heavy or frequent as in June or August. Highs of 88ºF combined with high humidity levels may be a bit overwhelming for some, which is why summer is considered the low season in Cozumel. Even taking a dip in the ocean won’t help much, since sea temperatures typically reach 83ºF.

The Cozumel cruise port is on the Western side of the island, where there happen to be three piers in total. The International Pier is one of the oldest and most-trafficked port areas. It’s about two miles to reach San Miguel, which you can access either on foot with a long walk or take a ten-minute taxi ride from the cruise port terminal. You’ll find food, shopping, and complimentary WiFi beyond the terminal. Beach “El Cielo” is a white sand beach you can’t miss in Cozumel.

Ziplining is a popular activity in Cozumel, as are ATV adventures and Jeep tours. This is also a great time to visit the Mayan ruins at San Gervasio, but beware of the high temperatures and strong sun. Cruise to the Mexican island paradise of Cozumel, a favorite destination for thrill-seekers and beach lovers alike. Cozumel is situated on one of the finest coral reefs in the world with fantastic snorkeling and diving available for people of all skill levels.

Ideal for snorkeling, starfish gazing, sea turtle sightings, and seeing the area’s beautiful coral reefs. Punta LangostaThe third cruise port in Cozumel is a few miles north of the other two. Punta Langosta sits right in downtown San Miguel and is often used by Disney, MSC, and Norwegian Cruise Line. This dock is highly convenient if you plan to spend some time in the city.

March is the driest month of the year, making it an ideal time to enjoy outdoor activities such as hitting the beach or swimming in cenotes. It is also the month when thousands of spring breakers flood every corner of the island, making it the ultimate fun spot for some and a nightmare for others. This charming port is the capital of the Cayman Islands and the largest city on Grand Cayman. Take a small hike along the rocky shores of Smith’s Barcadere to discover a beautiful and uncrowded sandy cove brushed by turquoise waves.

In 1520, Spanish crew members brought smallpox to Cozumel, devastating the Mayan population. This activity is perfect for families and children of all ages looking to spend an unforgettable afternoon with dolphins on your Cozumel cruise. You’ll also have the chance to see manatees and sea lions while you’re there. Cozumel and the surrounding are famous for their coral, sponge, and fish populations. In nearby Quintana Roo, Mexico, Arrecifes de Cozumel National Park is a site where you’ll find abundant coral reef structures. Divers and snorkelers shouldn’t miss the chance to plunge into the depths of this protected wildlife sanctuary.

There are souvenir shops, restaurants, shows, and more, including a pharmacy in case you forgot something at home. There’s even a Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville right at the port. Be sure to check out the large Cozumel sign (pictured at the top of this article) for a great photo opportunity with the ships in the background.

To escape the masses, find a more secluded beach on the eastern side of the island; the seas will be rougher, but the experience will be more relaxing. While on your Cozumel cruise, you can stay close to the cruise port with shopping, eateries, and sights in historic San Miguel. Yes, Mexico definitely has problems, but for the most part those violent stories you hear don’t occur in Cozumel. For finding the right spot, we recommend just checking out the menus as you pass. Most restaurants have menus posted outside where you can see if it fits what you want to eat and your budget. But if you’re anywhere near the ports or water, you’ll find all sorts of options.
